Stedum | former residence Nittersum
For years there was a desire to re-arrange the site of the former residence Nittersum, located centrally in the village of Stedum. The site were the residence was located prior to 1818, had been neglected. The Association ‘Dorpsbelangen Stedum’ approached Landschapsbeheer Groningen with the request to include this site in its project 'Hidden Land'. This project aims to make former residence locations visible by restoring and developing new features.
The preliminary design of ADC Heritage (Marc Kocken) and DLA+ (Harry Derks) was chosen. This design provided a vivid view into the past. It is a sleek design that reflects the austerity of the residence using a stone cover with information. The attempt was made to minimize disruption of the archaeological monument itself.
